The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), a title that encapsulates an oxymoron of gargantuan proportions, i.e. their principal modus operandi is to stenographically publish leaked information, is following its masters voice, the US regime, and is blithely doing its bidding.

If we are to believe what we have read thus far, an unknown whistleblower gave the Süddeutsche Zeitung, a daily German newspaper, a vast trove of data from a Panamanian company called Mossack Fonsecca in early 2015. The cache of data is known to contain details of legal, but clearly morally questionable activities, as well as numerous illegal activities of its clients who have used, and continue to use, a financial instrument called an offshore company to avoid, and/or evade scrutiny from their own regulatory authorities. The Süddeutsche Zeitung subsequently shared this trove of data with the ICIJ who have gone on to distribute it among many of their global partners in the mainstream media.

It is no coincidence that the US barely features in these latest revelations.

While the anonymity of a whistleblower could be a question of life or death and a large cache of data could take months to analyse, the content, focus, scope and timing of these revelations are highly questionable.

Content: The absence of content involving the nefarious activities of national security services, the suppliers and customers of international arms dealers and the aparatchiks who are silenced by large bribes from drug traffickers is telling.
Focus: The primary focus of the coverage by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the ICIJ and the mainstream media, aka. Spoon-fed Hacks, has only been to expose what is morally reprehensible activity rather than those actions which are clearly illegal.
Scope: The lack of any significant revelations about the odious activities of US politicians and plutocrats is conspicuous by its absence and obviously demonstrates there is an alternative agenda being waged by the US regime and its sycophantic partners.
Timing: The art of distraction, from those issues that require a concentrated and thoughtful response, e.g. the Syrian Peace Process, is not just essential but critical to the US regime if it is to revive its flagging Empire.

This does not mean that those among this trove of data, who have engaged in morally questionable or illegal activities, should not be held to account for their actions, clearly they must. What is does mean is that the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the ICIJ and the servile mainstream media in the West are, intentionally or otherwise, purposely distracting their audiences from, as yet, unresolved issues of clearly greater importance.

While these Spoon-fed Hacks are looking elsewhere, Rome burns.

The US Empire is directly responsible for the state of Afghanistan: in October 2001 the US Empire first bombed, then invaded, and subsequently occupied Afghanistan. When the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) ceased operations in October 2014, after killing thousands of its people and destroying their livelihoods, the nation began its slow and inexorable return to Taliban control. Next up was the second incursion into Iraq in March 2003, another illegal invasion akin to the Afghanistan debacle. This war is responsible for the wholesale destruction of the nation state which, as a result of the regulatory vacuum that ensued, has enabled the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) to grow into the murderous regime that it is today. Then there were the Colour Revolutions of the Arab Spring that swept through Northern Africa and the Middle East from late 2010 and continue to this day in Libya and Syria. Again the primary motive of the US Empire was to enable regime change wherever possible and render nation states into utter chaos and turmoil in its quest for either natural resources, i.e. gas and/or oil, or geostrategic supremacy. Meanwhile, over in Eastern Europe, the US Empire had hatched yet another plan: in February 2014 the Euromaiden coup d'état in Ukraine ousted the democratically elected President, Viktor Yanukovych, and replaced him with a Western puppet, Petro Poroshenko. The fallout from this meddling has yet to abate, even though the Minsk I & Minsk II Protocols have largely brought the hostilities to a halt, as the Ukrainian Junta continues in its attempt to ethnically cleanse the Russian Ukrainians from the Southeast of the country. Finally, returning to the Middle East, the US Empire have been pressing home an unfulfilled objective in Yemen: the West, whose fingerprints are all over the weapons systems being used there, have, in the guise of the Wahhabist totalitarian regime in Saudi Arabia, been busy bombing Yemen back into the stone age. Once again, this is yet another sectarian war inspired by the US Empire, who are as keen as the murderous regime in Riyadh, to divide and rule the nation for geopolitical and geostrategic purposes.

It is these issues that Süddeutsche Zeitung, the ICIJ and the vast majority of the Western mainstream media should be investigating, exposing the truth, and holding those responsible, past and present, to account. It is the perpetrators of war crimes and the heinous crimes against humanity by the West, since the beginning of the US Empires' so called War on Terror, that should receive the unrelenting scrutiny of not only the West's but the whole World's media.

That Rome burns, i.e. the West are responsible for the demise of a growing list of nation states, whilst an incompetent, irresponsible and subservient mainstream media blithely does the bidding of its master, in distracting its audience, is patently obvious.

If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.
